The son of Daniel Ravenel (1762-1807) and Catherine C. Prioleau (1769-1849), Daniel Ravenel the younger was an attorney, banker, and writer of Charleston, S.C. He was president of the Planters' and Mechanics' Bank, a member and official of the Huguenot Church, and wrote on topics such as church history and banking.
